Message from the President

Everything Old is New Again

As the saying goes…”everything old is new again”. In the early ‘90s, I first became involved with the NJMGMA when Tom Dunlap and Mike Stone were resurrecting the organization.  I volunteered to set up and run a meeting and the topic was “Marketing a Medical Practice”.  We brought in the SullivanLuallin Group to conduct the day- long session.   Fast forward to a few weeks ago, the PMC Committee entertained a list of speakers that included the SullivanLuallin Group!  My first thought was – oh my goodness, they are still around after all these years??!  Of course I had to catch myself because, after all, I too am still around!!

And I am quite honored and humbled to be following in the footsteps of Tom and Mike, and many since, leading the NJMGMA.  We have a highly competent Board that includes many returning but also several new, energetic members including our new Vice President, Don Callahan.  In addition, our administrator, Dawn Wilno, is second to none, so being at the helm of the NJMGMA during 2018 will hopefully be a breeze.

The corner stone of our year is the Practice Management Conference (PMC) which will take place June 6th – 8th at the Tropicana in Atlantic City – Transform Through Technology.  It looks to be another quality event with sessions relating not just to technology, but to all areas of practice management.  We listen to member suggestions, look at the most viewed webinars and identify what areas of interest have been successfully incorporated into meetings throughout the year; and then we search for the top industry subject matter experts to opine on these hot topics.  As attendance continues to increase, we take that as a sign that your educational needs are being met!  We hope to see your registration soon if you haven’t already signed up.

And what else to expect this year?  One of the new Board members is Pnina Mintz, Ph. D., who is chair of the legislative committee.  She will be working to forge a relationship with MSNJ so we can pool our resources.  Lisa McNair has been our newsletter publisher and is planning quarterly issues during 2018.  And a new initiative, to engage physician practices from the large health systems in our state, is being led by Matt Dobish who is chair of our Marketing Committee.  We are looking for volunteers for this new committee, please email Dawn if you can help out:  [email protected].  This area of outreach is vital to continue the membership growth of our organization.

Time goes by so quickly and I fully expect that this year will be no exception.  Please reach out to me right away if there is anything you would like us to address during 2018- email [email protected].  I look forward to hearing from you.
