Message from the President
I am very pleased and honored to serve as President of New Jersey MGMA. We have a great organization and I look forward to working with many of you as we enter into the new year.
NJ MGMA owes a lot to our previous leaders and I particularly want to thank our immediate Past President, Donald Callahan, for his leadership, wisdom, and commitment to improving our services. I also appreciate the service of Joan Hendler, who preceded Don as President, for her hard work and dedication to NJMGMA.
It’s been exactly one year since Coronavirus started taking hold of our world and shutting down elective procedures in medical practices in our state. Our already more than full-time jobs were suddenly thrust into overdrive attempting to respond to an unknown threat and an uncertain future. Now, with vaccines being administered to a greater number of people, life is slowly returning to normal. Retrospectively, I know that I couldn’t have thrived in the last year without two important groups: (1) my healthcare colleagues throughout the state and country and (2) my professional association membership in NJMGMA.
My professional network became increasingly important as I was able to rely on relationships built over time to obtain quick access to critical information to my practice. And, my professional association membership provided me with valuable and timely information via social media posts and webinars. And while we have all experienced “Zoom fatigue” over the past year, we cannot doubt the role that technology played in weathering the storm.
As the country and world starts to re-open and return to normal, so will our in-person events, abiding by local capacity limits and mitigation strategies that may be in place at the time. We look forward to reconnecting in person with you soon and thank you for your membership and participation. Congratulations on getting your practice through a singularly historic challenging period.
Sincerely,
Terri McSorley, MHA
